Empowering Beginner Musicianship 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
For the first time, we encourage young children to sing, move and play instruments independently of parental support.
We now progress onto specific musical details in the Colourstrings songbooks and the whole experience is brought alive using colourful ideas, puppets, percussion instruments, parachutes, and live music.
Musical stories captivate your child's imagination as they become actively involved in sharing ideas in a supportive musical environment where individual creativity is encouraged. This age group enjoys lots of partner games and dances that support the development of solo singing, through playful pitch matching games.
🔍 The focus is on developing rhythm and pitch. Once your child is confident in clapping rhythms, simple notation is introduced using pictures to build musical skills.
Each music level will guide your child through a 10-month program (3 terms: Fall, Winter, and Spring) of fun, developmentally appropriate music activities that lead them towards a solid music foundation.
✔️ Certificates highlighting the musicianship skills worked on are given to all students at the end of each term. By the end of the spring term, all the musical elements for that age group will have been covered and your child can graduate to the next level!
Support Home Learning
✔️ Each term includes a Music Book with core songs to support learning at home: Fall – Pentatonic Book, Winter – LA Book, Spring – DO Book. The books progress with each level, starting with picture stories and building up to reading music.
✔️ Colourstrings Music Bags are great for making music at home! Each bag includes age-appropriate instruments in a fun drawstring bag: Baby to 2 years or 3 to 6 years.
