COVID-19 Protocols — Attending the School

COVID-19 ATTENDING THE SCHOOL
Communicable Disease Plan mid May to August - December 2022. This may change if situations or health directives are updated by Health Canada or WCB.

As we move into our Communicable Disease Plan, please be aware of the information below. We are going to introduce the following:

- respect teachers requests to wear masks in some lessons
- we have HEPA air filters and cleaning/ sanitizing stations in every room.
- we are still limiting parents & adults in class and waiting areas
- masks are optional & recommended

Music & Movement classes or Camps ** see if you are sick

Baby to 2yrs - no masks required for students
Parents masks are optional & recommended

3yrs - 6 yrs - masks are optional & recommended for all 

Private Studios & instrumental groups over 6yrs ** see if you are sick

- Private 1 on 1 lessons - optional & recommended *
- Choir -optional & recommended *
- String Groups - optional & recommended *

* Some teachers may ask that you wear a mask in the smaller studios during lessons/ or if situation arise due to volume of people. We as you please respect these requests so we can get the lessons up and running and keep the school open.

If you are sick - if in doubt stay home please, and go online 

** If you have tested Positive or show any symptoms including a runny nose, cough please: Go onto ZOOM option online - (do not attend if it is a severe cold or flu, vomitted, or in any doubt)

** Tested Negative & have very mild symptoms, travelled out of Canada - mask mandatory for parents and students attending, If in doubt attend the ZOOM options

COVID & MASK POLICY UPDATE MAR 11TH - MAY 15THMasks Required as before (see below)

Baby - 4yrs - wear if you like/ can

All adults & teachers - mandatory 

As of Mar 11th the province lifted some restrictions & need for face coverings and British Columbians will not longer have to wear masks in some indoor public spaces.However, we are required to maintain our current Covid Safety Plan until April 8th, as we are a smaller facility and also registered as a school. Most of our classes involve singing & movement in either groups, choir or in smaller studios. This will allow us to review our Policy and adapt to opening up for the Spring Session, we will gradually remove some restrictions, and this will also be dependant on our teachers and capacity numbers in the school area and studios. We are trying to keep the school running on a smaller staff and if we get sick, we would have to close. ALL PARENTS, STUDENTS & TEACHERS ATTENDING THE SCHOOL. 

Thank you for attending the school, either limited in-school classes or online. As we navigate through a challenging year, with a limited staff. Below are some details to help with that process. 

MUSIC INSTRUMENTS 
WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE TO BUY ONLINE

We will have "music bags" available, prepared with care and they will come in a large zip lock colourstrings bag for $19. They are all new instruments, that can be used by child and parent, and cleaned at home then re-used. Everything you will need and more. We will not be handing out any instruments for multiple use, so you can bring something small this week for something to shake, to tap, to wave (scarf) and a small teddy to cuddle.

SECTION 1- MASKS & VACCINES

  • KIDS 0-4YRS NO MASKS/ WEAR THEM IF YOU CAN
  • KIDS 5 -12+ YRS MASKS ARE MANDATORY
  • ALL ADULTS & CHILDREN OVER 12 YEARS MANDATORY MASKS AT ALL TIMES

  • MANDATORY MASKS 5YRS + & VACCINES 12YRS +
  • PLEASE HAVE YOU PROOF OF FULL VACCINATION 12YRS - ADULT,
    IF YOU ARE ATTENDING THE SCHOOL

  • ALL OUR STAFF HAVE BEEN FULLY VACCINATED
  • NO VISITORS, OR EXTRA ADULTS IN THE SCHOOL PLEASE.

SECTION 2 - BEFORE YOU ATTEND

DO NOT ATTEND IF:

  • YOU, OR SOMEBODY IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD IS SHOWING ANY SYMPTOMS OR FEVER, OR HAD ANY CONTACT WITH COVID
  • ALSO STAY HOME FOR 10 DAYS IF YOU HAVE TRAVELLED OUT-WITH BC OR CANADA
  • REPORT TO THE ADMIN IF YOU ARE NOT ATTENDING OR ARE IN QUARANTINE - USE ZOOM

  • PLEASE HAVE GOOD HAND HYGIENE AND USE SANITIZER 
  • HAVE A BAG TO PUT, BOOKS AND PERSONAL ITEMS IN THE CUBBIES

SECTION 3 - WHAT MEASURES DO WE HAVE IN PLACE:

  • CLEANING ALL AREAS, HIGH TOUCH & FLOORS, BEFORE AND AFTER CLASSES
  • 6-8 SOCIAL DISTANCED LEARNING AREAS & TEACHER AREA
  • ALL PRIVATE STUDIOS ARE DISTANCED WITH HEPA FANS RUNNING

  • NO SHARED INSTRUMENTS, WE HAVE MUSIC BAGS FOR SALE/ BRING YOUR OWN SMALL PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS

  • HEPA AIR PURIFIERS AND HUMIDIFIER RUNNING ALL DAY
  • WINDOW & DOOR VENTILATION 
  • PLASTIC SCREENS AND SANITIZERS IN SCHOOL AND WASHROOM
  • ALL ADULTS, TEACHERS AND KIDS 5 YEARS + MANDATORY MASK WEARING, VACCINES REQUIRED ALL OVER 12YRS

  • LIMITED ACCESS FOR PARENTS, WE HAVE MARQUEE TENTS OUTSIDE DURING BAD WEATHER - ALSO CAFE MELO IS ACROSS THE STREET.

SECTION 4 - ARRIVING AT THE SCHOOL  - DROP OF AREA 

ALL TEACHERS & ADULTS MUST WEAR A MASK WHEN ATTENDING CLASSES AND ADULTS WITH YOUNGER CHILDREN & IF ENTERING OUR SCHOOL 

BABY - 4YRS WEAR IF YOU CAN, KIDS 5 YRS AND ALL ADULTS MASKS ARE MANDATORY 

WE ARE LIMITING THE ACCESS OF ADULTS AND PARENTS INTO THE SCHOOL 

DO NOT ENTER THE SCHOOL, WE WILL HAVE COVERED AREAS FOR YOU TO WAIT OUTSIDE AS WE HAVE CLEANING BREAKS BETWEEN CLASSES

THIS WILL ALLOW US TO START CLEANING AND ORGANIZING THE NEXT WAITING CLASS 

LINE UP  ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE MAIN DOORS PLEASE, KEEPING SOCIALLY DISTANCED (6FT / 2M) THE AREA WILL BE FULLY SIGN POSTED AND MARKED OUT ON THE GROUND

DO NOT TRY AND OPEN THE DOOR

WASHROOMS ARE FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY

THE ADMIN ASSISTANT (IN MASK) WILL HELP WITH YOUR ARRIVAL  

USE THE HAND SANITIZER STATION AT FRONT DOOR

REMOVE SHOES AND JACKET READY FOR CLASS

PLACE THEM IN THE SANITIZED CUBBIES

NO OUTSIDE DRINKS OR FOOD 

FOLLOW DIRECTIONS INTO THE CLASS AREA WITH YOUR BAG
